$80,000-$120,000/year Assignment Description
The mid-level Data Modeler works with data architects and metadata managers to model enterprise data, translating agency needs into long-term physical models and database designs to empower production systems. Responsibilities include: Identify and describe relationships between data fields and how they are maintained in enterprise databases. Maintain official descriptions of enterprise datasets. Organize data integration and migration activities to enhance operational efficiency. Perform gap analysis of legacy application data structures and enterprise data warehouse. Analyze enterprise data holdings to reduce redundancy or improve dataset conflation across systems. Review ETL processes to identify risks and recommend measures to ensure data integrity. Apply naming and metadata standards, check models in/out of the Model Repository, and document data model decisions. Participate in team discussions with other data modelers and SMEs across the enterprise. Create ontologies to improve domain-specific problem solving.
Skills and Experience
Required: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent mid-level experience as a Data Modeler. Experience with ontologies representing categories, properties, and relations within domains. Knowledge of data modeling principles including conceptual, logical, and physical models.
Desired: Experience with Collibra, Informatica, or related data governance tools. Experience in geospatial intelligence domain and metadata. Experience with dimensionally modeled data and translating relational models into XML and Schema.
