Position Description
The Adaptive Program Coordinator with assist with a variety of adaptive programs and inclusion services. They will be help plan, implement and evaluate adaptive programs that are designed to meet the needs of all participants involved.
Essential Functions
- Work closely with Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Specialist to plan, implement and evaluate program.
- Arranges time to pick up equipment/supplies, folder and other program information.
- Provide leadership to Adaptive Leaders and Volunteers including delegating program responsibilities.
- Provide or assist with behavior management, personal care, and program adaptation.
- Actively provide a model for supporting participants in the programs, including skill building/participation and social interaction.
- Ensure a safe environment at all times, plan ahead for program outings.
- Attend and participate in staff training and meetings. Lead training as needed.
- Review program participant information.
- Communicate with Adaptive assistants/volunteers, parents, and supervisors about the program and participants.
- Solve problems by using personal experience, other staff, parents, supervisors as resources.
- Complete necessary forms and program documentation/evaluation and assist other as needed.
- Follow City of Edina policies and procedures and ensure other staff are as well.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
- 18 years of age with high school diploma.
- Experience working with people with disabilities.
- One to two years of working in community recreation or education programs.
- Experience in supervising staff or volunteers.
- Ability to provide physical assistance to participants in the programs.
- Ability to independently get to program locations as needed.
Desired Qualifications:
- A degree or 2 years completed course work in Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, Adaptive Physical Education or related field.

Dates: Varies per program.
Working Conditions: The position is performed primarily indoors within a temperature-controlled environment. Some work may include outdoor exposure.
