Overview
The Adaptive Program Coordinator will assist with a variety of adaptive programs and inclusion services. They will help plan, implement, and evaluate adaptive programs designed to meet the needs of all participants involved.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Specialist to plan, implement, and evaluate programs.
- Arrange time to pick up equipment, supplies, folders, and other program information.
- Provide leadership to Adaptive Leaders and Volunteers, including delegating responsibilities.
- Assist with behavior management, personal care, and program adaptation.
- Support participants in skill building, participation, and social interaction, serving as a role model.
- Ensure a safe environment at all times and plan ahead for program outings.
- Attend staff training and meetings; lead training sessions as needed.
- Review participant information.
- Communicate with assistants, volunteers, parents, and supervisors regarding the program and participants.
- Resolve problems using personal experience and resources such as staff, parents, and supervisors.
- Complete necessary documentation, forms, and evaluations, and assist others as needed.
- Follow City of Edina policies and procedures, ensuring staff compliance.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma.
- Experience working with people with disabilities.
- One to two years of experience in community recreation or education programs.
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers.
- Ability to provide physical assistance to participants.
- Ability to independently access program locations.
Desired Qualifications:
- A degree or two years of coursework in Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, Adaptive Physical Education, or a related field.
Dates vary per program.
Working Conditions:
The position is primarily indoors within a temperature-controlled environment. Some outdoor work may be required.
