Population Health Analytics Specialist

As a primary function, this position will aggregate data from a variety of internal and external sources including claims data, patient sociodemographic information and clinical data. This candidate must be able to conduct complex analyses and prepare a variety of production and ad-hoc reports. Working within a team setting and supporting various managed care lines of business, HMO and PPO payers, including Medicare Advantage, HMO Commercial, and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) as well as various provider specialty groups.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Five years' experience in data analytics to include at least two years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Experience and expertise with medical practice management software.
Ability to assimilate and present information logically.
Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft SQL applications required.
Working knowledge of various electronic medical record systems is a plus.

Knowledge of various systems and software technologies.
Knowledge of computer science concepts and hardware and software applications.
Knowledge of principles of mathematics, healthcare administration, statistics, and interactive data systems.
Proficiency in data visualization tools.
Ability to exercise initiative, judgment and decision-making.
Knowledge of statistical process control techniques and strong quantitative skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology, and healthcare coding conventions.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Excellent communication, time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Aggregate data from a variety of internal and external sources including but not limited to claims, patient sociodemographic information and clinical data.
Data mining, summarizing, validating integrity of information.
Identify patterns and trends related to health outcomes, risk factors and healthcare utilization.
Interpret needs and specifications in creating analytical reports.
Create and maintain monthly dashboards with key performance metrics.
Benchmark and compare Population Health performance data across clinics, delegated groups, and physicians to ensure performance goals and standards are met.
Support and assist in maintaining a reporting and analysis production process that allows for the distribution of reports, both routine and ad hoc, to appropriate staff or delegated groups.
Review data reports for accuracy to ensure information reflects Quality Management's department standards for accuracy and timeliness.
Develop working knowledge of the healthcare landscape and the factors that influence population health such as clinical quality measures (HEDIS) and Medicare Risk Adjust (MRA).
Effectively communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through reports, presentations and other means.
Assist in responding to clinic staff and/or provider inquiries as needed.
Participate in providing project management, oversight, and coordination of Quality Management initiatives including analyzing, monitoring, and reporting their effectiveness.
Identify process issues and make recommendations for improvement.
Provide varied administrative and project management support within the Quality Management department.
Participate in health plan and department team meetings as needed.
Work with internal departments and health plans to identify and collect data needed for reporting and department communications.
Other functions and accountabilities may be assigned.
