What To Expect Tesla Factory Engineering is looking for an Engineering Manager to play a critical role in the design of infrastructure systems supporting the Facilities and Manufacturing teams at Giga Texas in Austin, TX. This role will lead our process and pipe stress engineering disciplines. The person will manage a high-performance team focused on chemical & utility projects related to vehicle production and Tesla’s AI initiatives. The manager will collaborate with manufacturing and facilities engineering teams to ensure safe, reliable project delivery within schedule and budget. What You'll Do Deliver design packages for large, design-build, and self-performed construction projects. Provide oversight and direction to ensure project success, including meeting project intent, design, and construction schedules within funding limits. Promote a safety-focused work culture through coaching, mentoring, and empowering team members. Demonstrate and encourage clear communication, prioritization, and problem-solving. Provide strategic direction for factory layout planning and project staffing, facilitating information sharing across teams. Maintain a positive, proactive attitude to keep projects moving and address concerns promptly. Foster collaboration and innovation within the team and across groups to accelerate Tesla’s mission. What You'll Bring Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. PE license in Texas preferred; exceptional candidates may obtain licensure within 6 months. 8+ years of experience in large industrial design and construction projects (battery, chemical, semiconductor, etc.). Expertise in chemical, mechanical, process controls, and safety scopes with proven project delivery. Ability to mentor colleagues on process design, safety, layout, and pipe routing. Willingness to engage in detailed engineering work as needed. Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with aggressive goals.
