We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Development Engineer to develop, optimize, and scale manufacturing and assembly processes for the integration of Sonocharge's proprietary acoustic piezoelectric devices and electronic components at the cell, cluster, and module levels. This role will focus on ensuring robust and scalable processes from R&D prototypes to production relevant assemblies, including pilot line material flow and manufacturing control plan, processes related to acoustic couplant application, thermal epoxy application, electronic component integration on special circuits, and battery module parts assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing and assembly processes for adhering Sonocharge’s proprietary transducers to flex and rigid circuits, and integrating the subassembly to single cells, clusters, and full battery modules. Lead process development efforts for acoustic couplant application, adhesives, thermal epoxies, and precision bonding of acoustic devices and electronics onto flexible circuits and battery components.
Work trifunctionally with the acoustics, electronics, and battery module teams to determine acoustic couplant properties, quantities, and dispensing process for optimal acoustic transmission, optimal attachment and bonding method of acoustic devices to flexible and rigid circuits and develop proper process for integrating the novel subassembly into a battery module.
Define SOPs, process controls, and quality standards for scalable production of Sonocharge-enabled cells, clusters, and modules.
Conduct hands-on trials, experiments, and validation testing to characterize process reliability and yield.
Develop process equipment specifications, jigs, fixtures, and evaluate automation solutions where applicable.
Drive process optimization and yield improvement initiatives across prototype, pilot, and production phases.
Work closely with R&D, Product, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to align product design with manufacturability and process capability.
Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations related to bonding, assembly, and integration processes.
Support supplier development and qualification related to process-critical materials and components.
Document process workflows, control plans, and process validation protocols for manufacturing partners and internal teams.
Participate in DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reviews and process scalability assessments.
Required Qualifications:
• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. + Microelectronics, Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical, Industrial Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in process development, manufacturing engineering, or advanced assembly for energy storage, electronics, or precision assembly industries.
• Proven experience in process development for adhesive dispensing, thermal epoxy application, couplant materials, bonding, and flexible circuit assembly.
• Familiarity with manufacturing environments for acoustic transducer applications or assembly of single battery cells, battery clusters, or battery modules.
• Strong knowledge of material behaviors, bonding mechanisms, and assembly process optimization.
• Experience with process validation methods/Statistical Analysis (DOE, SPC, FMEA, PFMEA).
• Excellent hands-on skills in running and troubleshooting process trials. Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in battery manufacturing (cell/module), electronics assembly, or thin-film processes.
• Knowledge of automation of dispensing, bonding, or material application processes.
• Exposure to acoustic materials, piezoelectric devices, or power electronics integration.
• Experience transitioning processes from prototype to volume production environments.
What We Offer:
• Opportunity to work at the forefront of energy and mobility innovation.
• High-impact role in a growing Series A technology company.
• Collaborative and mission-driven team environment.
• Competitive compensation and benefits
