About the Role
The Company is in search of a Vice President of Engineering (VPE) for its Incubator. The VPE will be a key leader in the evolution of the company's core technology platforms and infrastructure, with a focus on high-impact areas such as advertising technology, personalization, and the engineering incubator. This role demands a visionary with a builder's mindset, operational excellence, and the ability to lead diverse, cross-functional teams to create scalable, future-facing technology solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and executing the engineering strategy, overseeing the engineering incubator, and delivering personalization capabilities that enhance user experiences. They must also establish and implement engineering best practices, hire and mentor a diverse team, and manage budgets to ensure engineering investments align with company priorities.
Applicants for the VPE role at the company should have a proven track record as both a builder and operator of complex software systems, with at least 10 years' of experience in software engineering and a minimum of 5 years in senior leadership roles. Deep technical knowledge in areas such as cloud computing, system architecture, data engineering, and applied machine learning is essential. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-growth or transformation-stage organizations and a commitment to DEIA principles. Preferred qualifications include a background in digital media, technology, or journalism, experience with experimentation platforms, and familiarity with agile methodologies. The VPE will be expected to represent the engineering organization in executive discussions, contribute thought leadership, and ensure that technical execution aligns with the company's mission and goals.
