The incumbent in this class oversees mechanical, laboring and related activities at the municipal wastewater treatment plant and pumping station, and has responsibility for making assignments for inspecting, operating and maintenance work to assure that the plant and pumping stations operate at top efficiency. Supervision is exercised over a small staff of skilled and semi-skilled personnel for maintenance and custodial work. Supervision is received from Director, Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent who outlies policies, procedures, and maintenance requirements; makes frequent inspections to insure that they are complied with . Examples of Duties Assumes day-to day maintenance responsibility for the efficient functioning of wastewater pumping and treatment plant.
Makes periodic inspections of plant, equipment, and facilities to determine that equipment is functioning smoothly, efficiently, and effectively; discusses with Director, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and Shift Managers questions which might arise concerning plant equipment operations; discusses with superiors reports of plant and pumping station operations and maintenance requirement during each shift, and receives instructions concerning changes and procedures for special emergency conditions.
Prepares and submits a variety of reports and participates in staff conferences regarding operations, maintenance problems and repair activities. Maintains an accurate file or records on all equipment. Must make reports and recommendations to the Director, Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.
Implements and maintain the key requirements of the Facility's Risk Management Plan.
Subject to 24 hour call for emergency purposes.
Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications Considerable experience in the skilled maintenance and repair of a wide variety of machinery and equipment, related to the area of assignment; and graduation from a high school supplemented by approved training in one of the mechanical trades. Four years experience in maintenance repair, and rehabilitation of equipment pertaining to a wastewater treatment plant. Must possess and maintain a
Class I
Operators license issued by the Ohio EPA at the time of appointment. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio Drivers License
