This position is assigned to the Health Services Manager B to perform Dental Hygiene five days a week in Orange City Dental Clinic. The dental hygienist will be responsible for maintaining the dental preventive care and dental health education program. The hygienist will engage in educating and treating patients presenting to the dental programs, and provide oral health care to members of the community. This position requires close interaction between patients, the dentist, and other dental staff. The ability to communicate effectively and maintain professionalism and confidentiality are key components of this position. The hygienist must be competent in hygiene functions to include dental prophylaxis, dental sealants, dental x-rays, and perio maintenance. The hygienist may be required to travel between Dental offices (Orange City and Daytona Beach). Degree/License/Certification: Must have an Associate Degree or its equivalent. Dental Hygiene License and Certification in Basic Life Support. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Skilled in placing dental sealants, Scaling and root planning and skilled in working independently. Qualifications: Minimum - Must be skilled in placing dental sealants, Scaling and root planning and skilled in working independently. Must have a Dental Hygiene License Must have experience placing sealants Must have a certification in Basic Life Support Must be able to work as a team with others Preferred - Graduate from a formal accredited dental hygiene school. Requires an understanding of the dental operations, understand compliance and quality requirements related to the provision of dental care services and demonstrated success working with the dentist.
