The Cyber Network Specialist is responsible for actively supporting organization's cybersecurity and compliance efforts. This role plays a crucial part in designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure and efficient network infrastructure. Work involves the design and implementation of network control mechanisms that serve to control users' access to computer networks through such processes as firewalls. Work also involves the implementation of application access control that keeps unauthorized users from accessing a particular computer or network or program. Work involves security scans on network systems, application systems and other computer equipment. This role is responsible for the tactical development and implementation of their organizations risk management, business continuity planning, and disaster recovery plans. Identifies, analyzes, and mitigates threats to internal information technology (IT) systems and/or networks. Work may involve the management and configuration of servers, firewalls, routers, and other network devices to optimize performance and ensure reliability as well as installing and maintaining software applications, patches and updates as needed. Monitors network to actively remediate unauthorized activities and responds to crises or urgent situations within the infrastructure to mitigate immediate and potential threats. Work also involves providing incident response support to State, Local, Tribal and Territorial organizations within the state. Conduct Defensive Cyberspace operations to support mission requirements as directed by The Adjutant General or Governor. About the North Carolina National Guard Cyber Team: NCNG's cyber team provides continuous cyber support to the State's critical infrastructure, networks, and data from cyber threats by providing responsive and effective cybersecurity capabilities. NCNG partners with State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial organizations to provide proactive and reactive assistance to ensure critical assets are protected and secured against malicious actors. NCNG's cyber team provides superior cyber defense and security capabilities in order to protect our nation's critical infrastructure and assets. NCNG will leverage the team's expertise, agility, and readiness to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats in support of federal agencies and our country's cybersecurity posture. Bachelor s degree in computer science or a related IT related field or closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year experience in IT Security. or Associates degree in computer science or a related IT related field or closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in IT Security. or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
