Physician - Part-Time Gynecologist (8 Hours Per Week) (Stockton)

Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Previous EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending completion of training or licensing requirements, candidates may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed qualified.
Basic Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only when recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible
- Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
- Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
- Completed residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification
- Residents enrolled in approved residency programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and appointed on an intermittent or fee basis, under supervision
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Additional requirements include board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology, recent GYN office procedures, and GYN surgery skills within the past 2 years
- Physical requirements include visual acuity, hearing, speech, manual dexterity, and the ability to perform long periods of walking, standing, and other physical activities
Duties
- This is an open continuous announcement until September 30, 2025, with initial application cut-off on August 5, 2025, and subsequent biweekly cut-offs
- Qualified applicants will be considered as vacancies arise
- Provide clinical and administrative gynecologic services at VA Northern California Health Care System
- Perform tests such as pap smears, pelvic exams, and breast exams
- Diagnose and treat reproductive system disorders
- Educate patients on disease prevention and reproductive health
- Document all medical information in electronic medical records
- Other duties as assigned
