Position Overview/Duties

Real Property Services Field Office (RSFO)

Duty Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland

The RSFO, The Technical Support Section (TSS) has a Developmental Detail or Temporary Promotion for a Mechanical Engineer. The position is located in Annapolis Junction, Maryland which offers free, convenient on-site parking to all employees. The position is atemporary assignment and will run for aperiodnot to exceed 111 days . The start dateis on or about 10 September 2025.

MAJOR DUTIES

Applies advanced concepts, principles, and practices of mechanical engineering to prepare cost estimates for mechanical work (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection & associated controls) and supporting disciplines for contracts and contract modifications. Serves as technical mechanical expert for design packages (drawings, specifications, and design analysis), contract modifications, and/or construction submittals, and reviews for mechanical adequacy, compliance with functional requirements, and conformity with standard engineering and construction practices. Serve as a consultant, troubleshooter, and technical expert for mechanical issues for a variety of military facilities, including secure facilities, involving new construction and renovation projects. Conducts on-site quality assurance inspections and provides written reports containing recommendations. Effectively provide technical expertise when reviewing ambiguous design proposals with ambiguous mechanical scope to the project manager. Provide recommendations for the feasibility of contract modifications relevant to mechanical systems, which include heating, plumbing, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration components.

Current USACE employees must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (GS-12) or equivalent and meet OPM qualification standards for the 0830 series. Candidates must possess or be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance. Candidates must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver’s license. Candidates in the local commuting area only.
