EHS Specialist - 2nd shift

The EHS Specialist is responsible for providing technical environmental, health, and safety support to Ajinomoto Foods (AFNA) assigned plant(s) and personnel. Essential functions include supporting the evaluation of environmental, health, and safety programs and coordinating plant activities to support local and corporate objectives. The EHS Specialist will influence behavior and inspire commitment from all personnel in complying with Ajinomoto safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment.
The EHS Specialist will oversee designated plant(s) to ensure compliance with all corporate EHS programs and policies under the direction of a Site EHS Manager.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Be a leader and champion for continual improvement in environment, health, and safety. Coach, counsel, and guide department leaders and team members to ensure EHS programs and policies are adhered to. Conduct frequent facility walk-arounds to identify hazards that pose risks to site personnel. Assist with the execution of administrative programs, including the preparation, distribution, and maintenance of written programs, policies, procedures, and records such as SDS, lockout/tagout procedures, and OSHA reporting. Compose site-specific work methods, JSAs, LOTO procedures, risk assessments, etc. Assist with injury and post-accident case management and investigations. Support maintaining wastewater and stormwater compliance. Perform facility inspections and audits in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations and site-specific permits. Conduct and support employee training using company-provided training tools. Help ensure the plant follows the company’s PSM program. Assist in maintaining OSHA 300 logs. Support Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs by driving participation, providing critical data, and coaching. Track and report monthly Safety Scorecard requirements as necessary. Support other plants with similar responsibilities as outlined in this description. Perform other related duties and projects as assigned. Assist with activities involving protected health information in compliance with HIPAA, including employee claims, benefits coordination, eligibility, billing, and other delegated duties. Position Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Safety or STEM-related discipline preferred. Minimum one (1) year of manufacturing experience preferred. Knowledge of safety and health programs, policies, risk identification, and federal and state regulations preferred. Completion of OSHA 30 course required. Knowledge of auditing processes (ISO, OSHA, or equivalent) preferred. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, required. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills required. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Must be able to move about the plant, sit, use hands, reach, climb, speak, hear, and smell. Regularly stand, walk, and interact with employees. Lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds occasionally. Visual abilities include close, color, and depth perception. Must work effectively in environments with varying temperatures and noise levels. Ability to sit/stand and use a computer for extended periods. EEO Statement
