Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a Senior Training Specialist L4 is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering advanced-level training programs in support of Department of Defense (DoD) missions, with an emphasis on space, missile defense, and joint operations. This role leads the execution of instructional programs, ensures compliance with training standards and doctrine, and supports mission readiness by aligning training efforts with operational requirements.

The Senior Training Specialist serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in training methodologies, curriculum development, and performance evaluation, and provides mentorship to junior trainers and instructors.

Responsibilities

Skills / Experience Required Active TS/SCI Clearance 12-14 years of experience in training development and delivery in military, federal, or defense contracting environments Lead the design and implementation of advanced training programs for DoD personnel and units Deliver classroom, virtual, and field-based instruction across a range of operational tasks Conduct training needs assessments and develop curriculum that addresses mission-critical skills Develop and update lesson plans, instructor guides, user manuals, and multimedia training aids Oversee the integration of real-world operational scenarios, systems, and threats into training environments Conduct After Action Reviews (AARs), assessments, and training evaluations to identify areas for improvement Coordinate with program managers, SMEs, and operational leaders to ensure training aligns with mission goals Support exercises, rehearsals, simulations, and wargames by developing training scenarios and evaluation criteria Mentor junior training personnel and provide feedback to ensure instructional quality and standardization Track and report training outcomes, student performance, and readiness metrics Proven ability to lead training programs supporting space, missile defense, or joint operations Deep understanding of military training doctrine, such as AR 350-1, and instructional systems design (ISD) Experience with curriculum development tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Articulate, Blackboard, JKO) Strong platform instruction skills across various learning environments (classroom, virtual, field) Ability to develop and deliver scenario-based training that reflects current mission threats and tasks Familiarity with joint and combined operations, command structures (e.g., USSPACECOM, STRATCOM, USASMDC) Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with all levels of military and civilian personnel Experience conducting and contributing to AARs, hot washes, and training readiness assessments Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and DoD-specific systems for content delivery and documentation Ability to work independently in a classified environment and adapt to dynamic training needs Prior support to training programs for USASMDC, SMDCOE, SMDS, USSPACECOM, or JFCC IMD Knowledge of Missile Defense (MD), Missile Warning (MW), or space-based operational systems Experience with Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) and space domain awareness (SDA) Background in developing joint service training programs or integrated joint exercises Education / Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Military Science, Operations Management, or a related field Master's degree preferred for senior-level role Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) - ATD, Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) certification, Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+), Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Instructor Certification (for Army-specific roles) Benefits

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
