Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly experienced Senior Training Specialist L4 to support institutional training programs across the Department of Defense (DoD). This position plays a critical role in the development, delivery, and ongoing enhancement of education and training programs for military and civilian personnel.

The successful candidate will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in instructional systems and military education policy, ensuring training content aligns with current doctrine, operational priorities, and strategic guidance. Responsibilities include instructional design, curriculum development, instructor-led and virtual training delivery, and cross-functional collaboration with key training stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Skills and Experience:

Active TS/SCI (required) 12-14 years of experience in training development, delivery, or education program management within a DoD or military environment 5+ years in institutional training roles supporting Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, or Joint training programs Proven expertise in instructional delivery to diverse military audiences at varying levels of leadership Demonstrated experience applying ISD/ADDIE methodologies to course design, needs analysis, and evaluation Familiarity with Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Air Education and Training Command (AETC), or equivalent institutional training frameworks Strong understanding of military doctrine, leadership development, and training support systems (e.g., DTMS, Blackboard, JKO) Excellent communication, facilitation, and instructional writing skills Experience supporting training in classified environments and adhering to DoD security protocols Prior military service with experience as an instructor, trainer, or PME (Professional Military Education) cadre Experience supporting Joint Professional Military Education (JPME), officer basic/advanced courses, or service-specific schoolhouses Familiarity with distributed learning systems (e.g., ALMS, Moodle, Blackboard) and enterprise learning environments Design, develop, and deliver institutional training programs using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies such as ADDIE Analyze training needs and develop courseware tailored to military audiences (enlisted, officer, civilian) Facilitate instructor-led, virtual, and blended training across multiple delivery platforms Conduct curriculum reviews, lesson plan updates, and evaluations to maintain doctrinal and operational relevance Integrate feedback, After-Action Reviews (AARs), and assessment data to improve course effectiveness Ensure compliance with DoD and service-specific policies, procedures, and security requirements Training Specialists assigned to Army Space Training Division (ASTD) may be required to become licensed, trained, certified and road tested on all tactical equipment they are required to operate, and are required to maintain a valid state driver's license. For non-tactical vehicles supporting 16 or more passengers, personnel may be required to obtain and maintain a valid commercial driver's license. Drivers are required to complete Army accident-avoidance training as required, provided by the designated Government representative. Collaborate with training developers, instructional designers, and operational units to align training with current doctrine, policies, and mission requirements Maintain detailed training records, course documentation, and student evaluations in accordance with DoD standards Provide mentorship to junior instructors and serve as a lead facilitator during training events or exercise Education and Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred, especially in Adult Education, Instructional Systems, or Military Studies Completion of a recognized Instructional Systems Development course (e.g., Army Basic Instructor Course [ABIC], Army Training Developer-Middle Level Course [TDLC], or equivalent) DoD Instructor Certification or civilian equivalent (e.g., Certified Professional in Learning and Performance - CPLP) preferred Benefits

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.

Posted Salary Range

USD $110,000.00 - USD $125,000.00 /Yr.
