HDR . HDR is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our national Power Generation team. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will help our clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects while serving as Engineer of Record or Owner’s Engineer. The role supports power and energy projects primarily within the utility, IPP, industrial, and institutional sectors.

Responsibilities
Lead the project mechanical team and coordinate with other engineering disciplines
Monitor and communicate project status
Provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects on technical and contractual levels
Develop construction drawings, bid specifications, mechanical equipment sizing calculations, technical memos, bid evaluations, code reviews, feasibility studies, reports and cost estimates
Design and specify power generation systems for simple cycle, combined cycle, distributed generation, and RICE projects (preferred)
Collaborate with engineers and designers from several other disciplines
Mentor less experienced engineers and EITs
Manage multiple concurrent assignments and work within schedule and budget
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
A minimum of 10 years of experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license or P.Eng
Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS-CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
Preferred Qualifications
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation design
Gas turbine, steam turbine and/or large reciprocating engine experience or subject matter expertise
Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation
Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm desired
Minimum 10 years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and owner’s engineer projects
Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
Excellent communication and analytical skills
Willing to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs
Proficient at working within an established schedule and budget
Travel less than 10% for client and vendor meetings and project site visits
