Job Summary In this role, you will perform a variety of mechanical engineering and design activities under the supervision of senior engineering staff. The Engineer will be self-motivated, organized and creative with the ability to multi-task. This individual must be able to work as a productive and engaged team member, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation, in a fast-paced environment. Strong initiative and follow-through are essential. Core Responsibilities Perform HVAC system selections and develop details for designs. Select and specify mechanical equipment and devices. Perform submittal and shop drawing reviews; provide accurate, timely responses to RFI’s. Document changes and clarifications to scope, schedule, and budget; advise project team. Review data and prepare recommendations, summaries, and cost estimates for consideration by senior engineers and/or managers. Write technical reports to document engineering analysis and findings; conduct feasibility studies for proposed equipment and systems. Assist senior engineers in reviewing design and development plans and/or cost estimates. Evaluate engineering solutions, equipment and specifications; act as a technical advisor to junior staff. Coordinate with colleagues across disciplines; attend and participate in design and construction project team meetings. Implement quality assurance procedures during the design process and propose innovative design solutions to problems. Perform load calculations, detailed engineering design and compliance analysis, and prepare reports. Edit standard material and construction specifications to match project requirements as part of project specifications. Ability to implement design in BIM environment; may serve as a field engineer during construction and prepare written observation reports. Other duties as assigned. Ideal Minimum 3 - 6 years of design experience for consulting engineers or design-build contractors. Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines. General understanding of contracts and construction documents; knowledge of codes and standards; proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Revit, and other engineering tools. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; PE preferred; LEED Accredited preferred. Strong knowledge of State and local Building Codes; Proficient in Revit and related software (e.g., Trace 700, Energy Pro). Salary Details This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, CA.
