Overview

The position is a Registered Nurse. Works at an ambulatory health care center as part of a team with physicians and other healthcare specialists. Position reports to the Supervisory Nurse or designee. We are accepting applications year-round with eligible applicants placed on a standing register and eligible candidates referred for consideration as vacancies occur with referral at multiple grade levels and locations and type of appointments.

Duties

  • Assess patient care needs through analysis of data gained through interviews, review of health records, patients\' responses and consultation with physician and other staff members.
  • Plan and implement nursing care plan by providing or directing comprehensive nursing care based on assessment of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of patients.
  • Administer therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician. For example: medications, treatments, intravenous fluids, naso-gastric suction, or irrigation, etc.

Requirements

Conditions of employment: Selectee may be subject to a probationary period. U.S. Citizenship is required. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. This is a designated position under Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Adherence to immunization policies; an exemption request may be submitted. The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain licensure requirements; failure to maintain licensure may lead to adverse actions including removal from Federal service. Successful passage of E-Verify and setting up direct deposit are required. A pre-employment background investigation and fingerprint check are required; continued employment is contingent on the outcome. Credit checks may be used as part of the process.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower Federal grade level, or as otherwise stated. At the GS-5 level, qualifications include: a bachelor\'s degree in Nursing with no experience; or a diploma/associate degree in professional nursing with one year of nursing experience. GS-7 requires additional experience or education as described, and GS-9 requires a master\'s degree or equivalent experience as detailed in the original posting.

Education: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor\'s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing program. Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted nursing license/registration from a U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or territory. If applicable, foreign education requires Credential Evaluation/Certification.

Other: This position has promotion potential to GS-09; Time-In-Grade requirements apply for the competitive service. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the cut-off date.
