General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience by greeting customers, maintaining a clean work area, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and following company standards. The Associate may perform a range of tasks across store areas as business needs require and may be asked to take on additional tasks to support customer service and operations goals.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain safety as the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
  • Maintain a safe, clutter-free sales floor with clear egress to emergency exits; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow associates through company programs.
  • Assist customers, be register-trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greet customers with eye contact and a smile; say thank you at each register transaction.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to customers; respond to service calls immediately and involve Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters/mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain store areas and merchandise presentation.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies for identification, processing, and disposal of MOS merchandise; adhere to cash, check, charge, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tenders.
  • Demonstrate urgency to perform duties efficiently and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; ability to push/pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies; stockroom shifts may require lifting more than 20 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this role is $15.00 - $15.50 per hour. The range is influenced by factors including experience, skills, qualifications, education, and location. Benefits offered to all Associates include various insurance programs, associate discounts, retirement plans, and other welfare programs. Specific benefits vary by employment status and location.
