General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require, and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in all tasks.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Interact with Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet Customers and use company recognition programs for teammates.
  • Assist Customers as needed — register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greet customers throughout the Store and thank them at checkout.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customer inquiries; respond to Service calls and involve Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, disinfecting high-touch areas) to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandise items per guidelines, and maintain brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention concepts and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and protect confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies for MOS merchandise and disposal approvals.
  • Follow policies and procedures for cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline transactions; maintain accuracy with tenders.
  • Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly and respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; lift or carry up to 25 pounds; occasional heavier lifting may be required for Stockroom shifts (up to 20 pounds for those roles).
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies as assigned.
