General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be requested to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; maintains clear egress to exits and reports any unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times. Recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers as needed — is register-trained, assists with merchandise, and answers Customer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greets Customers with eye contact, a smile, and friendly greetings during store visits and at checkout.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to Customer service calls immediately and handles issues courteously, involving Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain a neat store environment (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, restocking, disinfecting high-touch areas in the front-end, sales floor, and restrooms).
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, the Shortage Highway, and merchandise protection standards where applicable.
  • Demonstrates integrity and protects confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows all MOS policies, identifies MOS merchandise, and notifies Store Leadership to review and approve disposals.
  • Follows all policies and procedures concerning cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline transactions, maintaining accuracy with tenders.
  • Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently while maximizing productivity and following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; able to push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment and other store supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts may require the ability to push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.00. The base pay range is dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, education, seniority, and location. This range is one component of the total compensation package.
