General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers in a courteous and friendly manner, follows all company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe, secure shopping environment. Keep exits clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly welcome; thank Customers at each register transaction.
- Assist Customers as needed—be register-trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions in a polite, knowledgeable manner.
- Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customers; respond to Service calls and involve Store Leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces), replenish supplies, and disinfect high-touch areas to maintain a neat store environment.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company dress code.
- Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well merchandised.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understand Loss Prevention practices and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise; follow all security procedures.
- Follow MOS policies and proper processing for disposals as needed.
- Follow cash handling, refunds, and related policies accurately; maintain awareness during transactions.
- Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and adhere to Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Ability to effectively communicate with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDAs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop as needed.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
- Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom associates: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
