General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets Customers, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

• Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in all duties.
• Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
• Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greets Customers and uses proper customer service etiquette.
• Assists Customers with merchandise and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greets Customers with eye contact and a friendly tone.
• Provides prompt responses to Customer inquiries and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
• Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
• Performs cleaning tasks and replenishes supplies to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
• Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
• Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store.
• Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per guidelines.
• Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
• Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise; follows MOS policies and cash handling procedures.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and follow store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

• Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

• Ability to use Store equipment, stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; lift up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally more than 25 pounds.
• Ability to use janitorial equipment and other store supplies as required.
• Stockroom associates: ability to push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
