Retail Associate at Ross Stores, Inc.

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The role may require performing additional tasks across store areas as needed to support customer service and store operations.

Responsibilities

• Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors.
• Maintains awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
• Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greets customers and thanks them at appropriate times.
• Assists customers with merchandise and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; is register-trained and supports Customer service needs.
• Provides prompt responses to Customer Service requests and escalates where needed; represents and supports the company brand at all times.
• Performs cleaning tasks and restocks as needed to maintain a neat store and presentation per guidelines.
• Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
• Executes daily tasks to ensure a neat, clean, and well-merchandised store; expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and follows presentation guidelines.
• Understands Loss Prevention awareness, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards.
• Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise; follows store policies on handling transactions and bankable tenders.
• Demonstrates urgency and efficiency in performing duties while minimizing steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Skills

• Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use store equipment (PDTs, registers, PC) as required.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move for up to 100% of working time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, carrying, reaching, and stooping.
• Ability to lift or push/pull more than 25 pounds on occasion; certain assignments may require other qualifications.
