General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions.
- Treats customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; friendly and professional at all times.
- Assists Customers as needed — is register-trained, helps with merchandise, answers questions politely and knowledgeably; greets customers with eye contact, a smile, and a "hello" throughout the store, and says "thank you" with every register transaction.
- Responds promptly to Customer Service requests; handles issues courteously and escalates when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
- Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized and merchandised to standards.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandise items per guidelines, and maintains brand name familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understands the Loss Prevention program and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follows MOS policies and proper processing of each piece, notifying Store Leadership to review disposals.
- Follows policies and procedures concerning cash, checks, card transactions, and refunds; maintains accuracy with tenders.
- Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently and maximize productivity while following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
