General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be required to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require, and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists Customers in any way necessary, is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably; greets Customers and thanks them at transactions.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customer service calls and issues, involving Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain store appearance and cleanliness (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters/mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high-touch areas).
  • Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
  • Performs daily merchandising tasks to keep store neat, clean, and organized according to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and follows monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention concepts and protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies and handles disposals with leadership review when required.
  • Follows policies concerning cash, checks, credit, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy with transactions.
  • Demonstrates urgency and efficiency by following store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Ability to effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
