Responsibilities

• The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience, with courteous and friendly service, proper merchandise presentation, and a clean work area.
• Engage in store tasks across areas as business needs require, including performing additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
• Maintain safety and security on the sales floor; correct or report unsafe conditions and maintain clear egress paths.
• Greet customers, assist with merchandise, answer questions, and handle transactions accurately and efficiently while following company standards.
• Represent and support the Ross brand at all times; follow loss prevention, MOS, and cash handling policies; safeguard confidential information.
• Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, restocking, disinfecting high-touch areas) and maintain professional appearance and dress code.
• Ensure timely processing of newly received merchandise to the sales floor and maintain organized, well-merchandised departments according to guidelines.
• Understand and follow store policies on MOS, cash, checks, cards, refunds, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy in all tender handling.
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in daily workflows.

Qualifications and Skills

• Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
• Ability to use store equipment (PDTs, registers, PCs) and to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly; certain roles may involve lifting more for stockroom tasks.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the store; ability to push, pull, and lift as required by duties.
• Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies as needed.
