General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes making eye contact, smiling, greeting customers, treating colleagues with respect, following company best practices, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of duties in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to take on additional tasks to support customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors and maintain a safe shopping environment.
  • Maintain a clutter-free sales floor and clear egress to emergency exits; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; engage through friendly, professional interactions and recognition programs.
  • Assist customers: register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers throughout the store and thank them at checkout.
  • Respond promptly to customer service calls and help resolve issues in a courteous and helpful manner, involving Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain store cleanliness and replenishes supplies to support store operations.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines, maintaining brand familiarity within departments.
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies and proper processing of disposals; maintain awareness during cash handling and transactions.
  • Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by following store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Ability to effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
