General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate is expected to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps exits clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
- Assists Customers and is register-trained; helps with merchandise questions and greets Customers throughout the Store; thanks Customers at the register.
- Provides prompt and courteous responses to Customers; responds to Service calls immediately and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping, disinfecting high-touch areas) to maintain merchandise, customer, and team areas.
- Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, MOS policies, and merchandising protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise; demonstrates integrity in all interactions.
- Follows policies and procedures for cash, checks, cards, refunds, and offline transactions; maintains accuracy with tenders.
- Maintains a sense of urgency to maximize productivity by following store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; push and pull and lift up to 25 pounds (20 pounds for stockroom shifts).
- Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders as required.
