Company Overview:

A nonprofit organization in the education space is seeking their first HR hire. This person will shape HR from the ground up, advocate for employees, and build programs that make a lasting impact.

Job Responsibilities:

• Act as the first dedicated HR resource, overseeing all core HR functions and initiatives.
• Manage benefits administration, including open enrollment and vendor relationships.
• Prepare payroll using Paychex, in partnership with Accounting.
• Refine and oversee the performance review process to ensure consistent, actionable feedback.
• Support employee development by coordinating training and growth opportunities.
• Lead the optimization and implementation of HRIS systems (Workday experience strongly preferred).
• Conduct an initial HR audit to identify gaps and enhance policies, compliance, and processes.
• Develop and execute employee engagement strategies, with a focus on a mostly remote workforce.
• Coordinate company events and team-building activities to strengthen culture.
• Provide light office management support such as vendor coordination and meeting logistics.

Qualifications:

• Proven HR management/operations experience, ideally in a smaller or growing company.
• Strong knowledge of benefits, payroll (Paychex), compliance, and HR best practices.
• Hands-on experience with HRIS / Workday highly preferred.
• Ability to build and maintain a positive, engaged, and collaborative culture.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation: $90,000 to $110,000 annually
