Overview

The HR Manager oversees all aspects of human resources practices and processes. This role is responsible for managing recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, and organizational development. The HR Manager ensures alignment between HR strategies and business goals, fosters a positive workplace culture, and supports leadership in driving employee engagement and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage payroll, commissions, and benefits administration
  • Manage benefit plans, claims resolution, and vendor invoicing
  • Support 401(k) and profit-sharing plan administration
  • Maintain accurate HR records and organizational charts
  • Lead employee engagement and morale initiatives
  • Contribute to strategic planning and workforce development
  • Use data to guide staffing and retention decisions
  • Develop and manage performance management systems
  • Provide employee counseling and support
  • Standardize HR processes and ensure ethical practices
  • Assist in training and development planning
  • Ensure strong internal controls and policy documentation
  • Prepare labor and benefits performance reports
  • Monitor and report on risk-related issues (e.g., MIOSHA, workers’ comp)
  • Maintain compliance with payroll, tax, and government reporting
  • Coordinate with external auditors and benefit providers
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and insurers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience
  • 3+ years of recruiting experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients
  • Ability to do full cycle payroll
