Senior Medical Science Liaison, Immunology to be based in the Ohio/West Virginia territory. Responsibilities
Provide fair, balanced, objective scientific information and education to opinion leaders, health care professionals, and internal partners as required by scientific and business needs. Serve as an established scientific and clinical knowledge lead on current and future J&J Innovative Medicine products per Therapeutic Area alignment. Stay abreast of current scientific and treatment landscape trends in the therapeutic areas of interest. Support research efforts and investigator-initiated studies; develop and maintain external relationships with OLs and health care providers; manage a geographical territory. Develop and execute a territory strategic plan including educational activities with identified OLs, HCPs, institutions, and community practices. Engage in both virtual and in-person engagements, prioritizing in-person interactions when appropriate; ensure all activities comply with regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines. Identify and collaborate with field-based partners to support healthcare providers and positively impact patient care. Enhance skills in agility, change management, time management, and innovation. Research and Scientific Engagement
Leverage knowledge of standards of care, Janssen/Investigator-sponsored trials, and competitor landscape to facilitate external-internal research communication. Engage with external investigators regarding unsolicited research inquiries; liaison with R&D, Medical Affairs, and operations teams. Provide clinical trial support to identify sites, address issues, and participate in meetings, including site initiation visits and investigator meetings. Lead at least one scientific or strategic Immunology project and identify educational gaps to elevate team knowledge. Scientific Acumen and Representation
Participate in team calls, trainings, and journal clubs; stay informed on current standard of care and share scientific news. Attend and contribute at scientific conferences to gather relevant information for the company and external scientific community. Document and synthesize medical insights; share insights with MSL team and partners. Represent and support J&J at relevant scientific meetings, congresses, symposia, advisory boards, and investigator meetings; participate in speaking engagements as needed. Operational Support
Complete administrative tasks timely and accurately (e.g., expense reports, activity documentation). Provide regional/local support to enhance sales training and field competencies in partnership with Sales Learning and Development. Collaborate with field-based partners and other Immunology MSL teams; contribute to large-scale projects. Maintain understanding of regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines and Medical Affairs SOPs. Qualifications
PharmD, PhD, MD, or other advanced medical degree (NP, PA) with 3+ years relevant therapeutic area experience. 3+ years MSL experience or 3+ years related clinical/research/pharma experience. Significant experience giving presentations. Ability to travel up to 75-80% including some overnight and weekend commitments. Valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record; reside within the defined territory. Preferred
Knowledge or experience in the relevant therapeutic area and/or Immunology. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and remote collaboration tools. Residency near Cincinnati or Columbus, OH. Compensation and Benefits:
The expected base pay range is $137,000 to $235,750. Eligible for a company car through the Fleet program and an annual performance bonus. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and paid time off as described by company policies.
