Overview
Construction Management Business Class Director (Water Business Group) at HDR. The primary duty is to provide strategic focus nationally on positioning HDR as a preferred provider for construction services for the water infrastructure industry. The Director shall provide Business Group wide leadership regarding CM business development, project delivery and group leadership/communications. This position reports to WBG Service Delivery Director. Responsibilities
Business Development: maintain market intelligence regarding competition, potential partners, acquisitions and/or new hires; capture HDR and competition SOQs, proposals, presentations, scopes of work with associated fees; ensure regions maintain CM pursuit target lists and Client Maintenance plans; support capture planning, preproposal visits, qualifications and proposal preparation; provide marketing support on pursuits; maintain list of major CM or PM/CM or OA/CM projects; maintain tool kit and promote best practices/tools; implement presentation/interview training workshops for senior construction managers. Project Delivery: capture/disseminate CM delivery lessons learned; ensure use of HDR best practices, procedures, templates and protocol for consistent CM delivery coast to coast; work with other BCDs on delivery of projects and long-term tactical plans for the water construction services program; provide principal level project management and issue resolution; track actual delivery costs against budget; maintain CM/CI resources and provide resource planning; lead PARR reviews and train staff to be Lead Reviewers; perform site audits; promote RAKEN Field Reporting App and update HDR Technical Guidelines; manage licenses and coordinate purchases; promote Newforma Construction Administration software and coordinate with stakeholders; serve as WBG point of contact for CMIS; update CM Manual, procedures/forms & field checklists and ensure access/use across the group. Construction Management Leadership & Communications: reinvigorate CM Practice Community, conduct regular CM calls, broadcast wins and lessons learned; collaborate with Field Services teams and participate in Field Services Steering Committee; lead CMAA engagement and represent HDR as a CMAA Board member; oversee CM staff development and training plans. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering with 15+ years’ experience in managing construction delivery programs for the water infrastructure industry. PE or related professional certifications are desirable. Location: this position can be located in any US HDR office. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering or closely related field Minimum 10 years of relevant experience Professional registration and related technical experience Experience in development and management of diverse teams Ability to work cooperatively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers Commitment to quality, continuous improvement and HDR values Active participant in HDR’s employee-owned culture Company & Beliefs
