Giant Chevrolet Cadillac of Visalia is seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive Smog Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with experience in diagnosing and resolving vehicle issues. This role requires a commitment to providing exceptional customer service while ensuring the highest quality of work on all vehicles, particularly GM vehicles. Responsibilities This position is responsible for performing smog inspections, emissions testing, and related repairs on cars and light trucks. Ideal candidates will have hands-on mechanical experience and a valid smog license. Key Responsibilities Conduct smog inspections in compliance with state regulations Diagnose and repair emissions-related issues on vehicles Use computerized diagnostic equipment and hand tools Maintain equipment calibration for accurate testing Interpret data and technical documents Complete written work orders and service reports accurately Communicate effectively with customers and team members Assist with scheduling and organizing workflow in the shop Qualifications Valid Smog Technician License (required) GM or equivalent OEM certifications are a plus Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and repair guides Customer service skills and a professional attitude Ability to work independently and as part of a team Perform comprehensive automotive diagnostics to identify issues and recommend appropriate repairs. Conduct routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections. Repair and replace automotive electrical systems, powertrain components, and perform alignment services. Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively for various repair tasks. Execute diesel engine repair and maintenance as needed. Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on each vehicle. Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their vehicle's condition and necessary repairs. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery.
