Overview

The Port of San Francisco’s Waterfront Resilience Program (WRP) is recruiting for one Project Manager I to manage the delivery of waterfront resilience plans and small complex urban waterfront resilience projects. This includes work during pre-design, detailed design, entitlements, bidding, construction, and closeout, and supporting senior Project Managers on larger projects. The focus is urban design and stakeholder engagement. The Port of San Francisco is an enterprise agency of the City and County of San Francisco, governed by a five-member Commission. The Port’s jurisdiction covers about 7.5 miles of waterfront from Pier 98 to Fisherman’s Wharf. The Port’s portfolio includes diverse leases and operations across cargo, tourism, harbor services, and more. Position status: Temporary Exempt (TEX), Full-Time, with an anticipated duration of up to three years. This role is excluded from the competitive civil service process and incumbents serve at the discretion of the Appointing Officer. Plan, organize, and direct all or part of complex Waterfront Resilience plans and projects across planning, design, documentation, construction, and closeout. Manage multi-disciplinary staff, consultants, agency staff, City staff, and contractors across organizational boundaries. Prepare, monitor, and control project scope, budgets, funding plans, schedules, and expenditure forecasts. Coordinate reviews of presentations, studies, plans, and design submittals; resolve conflicting comments and track resolutions. Track and report project progress, issues, risks, and decisions; escalate issues as needed. Present to internal and external stakeholders, the Port Commission, and other City agencies, Boards, and Commissions. Manage public and stakeholder outreach and engagement in coordination with Port communications on messaging. Prepare requests for proposals, negotiate and monitor consultant contracts, and develop MOUs and project charters with city agencies. Participate in program development, monitor goals, KPIs, risks, and budgeting. Recommend ways to increase speed, efficiency, or quality of delivery; participate in managerial and cross-agency meetings as needed. Review and manage workload for project staff and interns; manage environmental review processes and permits. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or planning plus four (4) years of responsible architectural, engineering, or construction management experience, OR Bachelor’s degree in another field plus six (6) years of relevant experience, OR Eight (8) years of architectural, engineering, or construction management experience in a related field, OR California registration as professional engineer or architect. License

possession of a valid California driver’s license (to be presented at time of appointment). Employees must be insurable under the Port’s automobile liability insurance and maintain insurability throughout employment.
