Overview The Port of San Francisco is seeking two (2) Project Manager II positions in the Waterfront Resilience Program (WRP). These are Permanent Exempt (PEX), full-time roles with an anticipated duration of up to three (3) years. The appointments are at-will and exempt from the competitive civil service examination process.

The Port’s Waterfront Resilience Program is recruiting for two (2) 5504 Project Manager II positions to manage the delivery of large, complex urban waterfront resilience projects during pre-design, detailed design, entitlements, bidding, construction, and closeout.

About the Port The Port of San Francisco is an enterprise agency of the City and County of San Francisco. The Port Commission oversees a broad range of waterfront facilities held in public trust for the people of California. The Port’s jurisdiction covers approximately 7.5 miles of waterfront land from Pier 98 to Fisherman’s Wharf. The Port’s diverse business portfolio includes leases across ground, commercial, retail, office, industrial, and maritime activities, and a variety of cargo handling and passenger services.

Responsibilities

Preparing and monitoring the project budget, including occasionally obtaining funding.

Overseeing the completion of conceptual design.

Overseeing planning activities.

Coordinating work of a multi-disciplinary technical staff across organizational boundaries.

Working with consultants, private contractors, special interest groups, governmental funding and regulatory agencies, and City and County departments.

Coordinating CEQA processes and/or obtaining permits.

Controlling project cost and schedule.

Reviewing reports, plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates and schedules.

Serving as primary contact for all parties involved in the project.

Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or planning plus six (6) years of responsible architectural, engineering or construction management experience, OR

Bachelor's degree in another field plus eight (8) years of responsible experience in a field directly related to the project, OR

Ten (10) years of architectural, engineering, or construction management experience in a field directly related to the project, OR

California registration as professional engineer or architect, plus two (2) years of project coordination experience.

Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.

One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.

Familiarity with CEQA and NEPA within the San Francisco Bay shoreline regulatory context.

Ability to analyze complex data and make data-driven recommendations.

Experience managing multi-disciplinary planning, design, or engineering projects through planning, design, and construction.
