In this classroom, you'll work with a small group of students who require highly individualized instruction. Many may be nonverbal, use adaptive equipment or assistive technology, and benefit from structured routines and consistent support. Youll design instruction that meets students where they are, working closely with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families to help every student grow in meaningful ways. What You'll Be Doing:
Teach functional academics, communication skills, and daily living skills
Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
Adapt curriculum to match student learning profiles and cognitive levels
Foster a safe, supportive, and predictable classroom environment
Communicate regularly with parents, team members, and administrators
Collect and analyze student progress data to guide instruction
What You Need:
A valid
Virginia teaching license
with one of the following endorsements: Special Education General Curriculum K12 , or
Adapted Curriculum
A calm, flexible, and patient approach to teaching
Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities preferred
Strong collaboration skills and a student-centered mindset
