A Chicago-based K-12 school is seeking a skilled and compassionate Special Education Teacher for a contract position during the current school year. This role focuses on serving an elementary self-contained classroom comprising 610 students with diverse learning needs. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs Collaborate closely with a certified LBS1 co-teacher, full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), and other support staff to enhance student learning Deliver differentiated instruction aligned with the district curriculum and individual goals Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment promoting student growth and engagement Qualifications: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement is required Experience in an elementary special education classroom is preferred Strong skills in collaboration, communication, and classroom management Dedication to inclusive education practices and the ability to differentiate instruction effectively Location: Position is based in Chicago, Illinois at an elementary school serving K-12 students Additional Information: This is a full-time contract position for the current school year The classroom utilizes a co-teaching model and benefits from full-time SLP support, as well as solid administrative and instructional assistance This opportunity is ideal for educators committed to fostering inclusive environments and providing personalized support to students with diverse learning profiles.
