A school in Rockford, IL is seeking a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher for a self-contained classroom serving high school students with hearing impairments and additional learning needs. This contract position is for the current school year.

The DHH Teacher will serve as the primary instructor, delivering tailored instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The ideal candidate will hold Illinois certification as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher, be proficient in American Sign Language (ASL), and possess experience working with students with diverse learning abilities. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each students communication and learning requirements. Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects utilizing accessible materials, differentiated teaching strategies, and visual supports. Use ASL and other communication methods to ensure students have full access to instruction and classroom participation. Collaborate with support staff and families to promote student progress and well-being. Maintain accurate records on student performance and adherence to IEP goals. Qualifications: Illinois teaching certification for Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). Experience working with high school students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Strong knowledge of instructional strategies suited for students with hearing impairments and additional learning needs.
