We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate

Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)

to provide specialized instructional support to students with visual impairments across Ohio. The TVI will deliver individualized educational services in a virtual learning environment, collaborate with school personnel and families, and ensure that students have access to the general curriculum and necessary accommodations. Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments via virtual platforms.

Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals tailored to students' visual and educational needs.

Adapt and modify instructional materials using accessible formats such as braille, large print, tactile graphics, and assistive technology.

Collaborate with general education teachers, special educators, and related service providers to support inclusive practices.

Conduct functional vision assessments (FVA) and learning media assessments (LMA), as needed.

Train students, staff, and families on the use of assistive technologies and accessible tools.

Monitor and document student progress and provide regular updates to the IEP team.

Stay current with best practices, educational tools, and legal requirements related to the education of students with visual impairments.

Qualifications:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or related field

Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License with a Visual Impairment endorsement

Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired in a virtual or in-person setting

Proficient with assistive technology and screen reader software (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver)

Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills

Comfortable working independently in a remote setting with reliable internet access

Knowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, and accessibility standards

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Unified English Braille (UEB)

Experience working in teletherapy or virtual education environments

Familiarity with Ohio Department of Education compliance requirements

Orientation and Mobility certification (COMS), a plus but not required

Work Environment & Tools:

Fully remote position with flexible scheduling

Services delivered through secure online platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.)

Training and support provided for virtual teaching tools and software

Remote working/work at home options are available for this role.
