The Student Associate will provide administrative and programmatic support to the Texas Materials Institute (TMI) and the Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) graduate program. This position offers hands-on experience in university operations and event coordination within an academic environment. Students must be eligible for work-study for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semester. Responsibilities
Provide general administrative assistance to the TMI administrative team. Check, sort, and distribute incoming mail and retrieve packages from the receiving station. Assist with payment processes, including delivering checks to the cashier's office for deposit. Assist with filing, scanning, and shredding of documents. Assists with setup and cleanup of weekly seminar events (Fall). Take photos at graduate program events, seminars and distinguished lecture series. Assist with TMI website and newsletters. Current undergraduate student at the University of Texas at Austin Work-study eligible Some DEFINE experience Effective written and verbal communication skills Salary Range
$16.00 / hour Working Conditions
May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity Required Materials
