General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of tasks across all store areas as business needs require, and may be asked to perform additional tasks in specific situations to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
  • Maintain a safe, secure sales floor with clear egress to emergency exits; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers and recognize fellow Associates using company programs.
  • Assist Customers as needed: register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers throughout the store and thank them at checkout.
  • Provide prompt, courteous responses to Customer Service calls and issues; escalate to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks and replenish supplies to maintain store areas and restrooms; keep areas tidy and well-merchandised.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Conduct daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat and well-presented per guidelines.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines and maintain brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention Awareness and related protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise; demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions.
  • Follow MOS (Missed Out-of-Stock) policies and proper processing, notifying Store Leadership for disposals as needed.
  • Follow all cash, check, credit, refund, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tender handling.
  • Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Ability to effectively communicate with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this role is $20.76 - $21.26 per hour. The range depends on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, location, and other considerations. Benefits offered to all Associates include insurance programs, Associate Discounts, retirement plans, and various other benefits. Certain roles may be eligible for bonuses based on performance.
