The Critical Power Group maintains, services, and troubleshoots UPS systems, batteries, and other critical infrastructure. Our technicians are factory trained on major UPS brands like MGE/APC, Liebert, Toshiba/Mitsubishi, and Powerware/Eaton. They perform preventive maintenance, testing, and emergency services at high-profile government, institutional, and commercial sites. The group also offers engineering and technical support to customers and internal divisions.

Responsibilities

  1. Travel daily with an independent work structure.
  2. Be available for emergency calls 24/7 unless on PTO or off call.
  3. Maintain company-issued equipment, tools, and instruments.
  4. Install and repair static switch and PDU systems.
  5. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on contracted equipment.
  6. Interact with customers and provide technical support.
  7. Communicate availability status to the office and team leads.
  8. Protect proprietary information and maintain accurate documentation.
  9. Use electronic and electrical test equipment as needed.
  10. Manage on-site subcontractors as necessary.
  11. Maintain vehicle safety and insurance compliance.
  12. Ensure work meets M.C. Dean standards.
  13. Complete all required paperwork accurately and timely.
  14. Attend product-specific training when required.
  15. Cross-train colleagues as needed.

Additional duties include inspecting static switch systems, certifying compliance, reviewing system drawings, providing technical assistance, and ensuring safety standards are met. The role requires physical ability to lift batteries, work at heights, and perform physical tasks routinely. Availability for on-call work 24/7 is essential, with potential overnight travel.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent military/field training.
  • Minimum of 2+ years experience with UPS systems, batteries, electrical apparatuses, and associated equipment.

Candidate Expectations

  • Ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, maintenance, and quality control procedures.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing malfunctions using testing and inspection techniques.
  • Proficient in using laptops, software, and communication devices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to undergo manufacturer training and certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Pay Range

USD $32.71 - USD $42.50 /Hr.
