Job Description

The Janitor position is responsible for performing all-purpose cleaning and preservation of assigned areas inside a building or multiple client sites. Exact tasks are not definite, so the incumbent must be flexible to perform duties per client specifications.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Empty and clean all waste containers; remove waste paper and garbage, damp wipe containers.
• Empty and clean ash trays and monitor sand urns; supply and restore sand as required.
• Dust all image frames, charts, graphs, and wall hangings.
• Damp dust ceilings, air diffusers, partition grilles, registers, and other ventilating louvers.
• Vacuum all mats and carpeted areas in workplace, lobbies, and corridors.
• Hand dust and clean all office furnishings, files, fixtures, paneling, window sills and other flat surfaces.
• Wipe and buff metal hardware fixtures and off-site bright work.
• Clean and maintain tile floor surfaces as required.
• Damp wipe and buff glass furnishings; clean entry door glass indoors and on the outer surface.
• Remove stains from vertical surfaces such as doors, door frames, light switches, and dividers.
• Wash, clean, and sanitize water coolers.
• Sweep stairways and vacuum if carpeted.
• Clean building floors by sweeping and mopping; sanitize and restock supplies in bathrooms.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow written and oral directions.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience in a janitorial-type position.
