Our client is a leading construction company, and they are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join their finance team and support our growing operations. The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for managing all aspects of the accounts payable cycle, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. This role requires prior experience with construction accounting and sales tax compliance, as well as the ability to work effectively with project managers, vendors, and internal departments. Target Compensation: 54k-60k Key Responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Specialist: Process high-volume vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and adherence to company policies. Verify invoice accuracy against purchase orders, contracts, and job cost codes. Prepare weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly. Manage sales and use tax filings across multiple states, ensuring compliance with construction-specific tax regulations. Maintain accurate records of tax-exempt purchases and ensure proper documentation. Support month-end close activities, including accruals and reconciliations. Assist with audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries. Collaborate with project managers and procurement teams to ensure timely and accurate vendor payments. Continuously identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency. Preferred Qualifications of the Accounts Payable Specialist: 3+ years of accounts payable experience, preferably within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of sales and use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE, Procore, or similar) preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. High level of integrity and commitment to accuracy.
