Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level III Trauma Center with diverse patient populations and advanced emergency care requirements.
Responsibilities Work in the Emergency Department of a Level III Trauma Center Unit has 46 beds, including 5 safe psych rooms and fast track areas Patient types include pediatrics to geriatrics, trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, respiratory issues, and adult psych Small pediatric population; most pediatric cases are transferred Day shift patient ratios are typically 1:4-5, flexing to 5 based on acuity and staffing 12-hour day and mid shifts with varying weekend requirements No floating required Uses Epic EMR, Alaris, Pyxis, and central/bedside telemetry monitoring (no tele tech) No invasive neuro procedures performed Responsibilities include providing emergency care to high-acuity and diverse patient populations Support team includes ER techs, charge nurse, float/resource nurse, RT, ED educator, 24/7 security, house supervisor, social work, and pharmacy First-time travelers are accepted for this position Orientation includes a day for NEO and Epic training, mental health area introduction, and a 12-hour precepted shift Must work at least 2 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day) Professional scrubs in any color are allowed; modest piercings and non-offensive tattoos are permitted Free parking is available in designated areas The department is traveler-friendly, fast-paced, and team-oriented
Requirements Active WA or compact RN license (can submit with proof of pending license application) Minimum of 2 years of ED experience required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI/MOAB Skills must include cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, procedural sedation, blood administration, administration of TNK and cardiac medications, and general ED medication knowledge Traveler Telemetry Competency must be completed and passed prior to start
