Medical Science Liaison – Autoantibody Pipeline- Southeast

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for the Southeast region. This is a field-based position with territory coverage including Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Preferred locations: Atlanta, GA; Orlando, Tampa, or Miami, FL.
Travel is estimated at 70% and will be primarily within the assigned geography.
Overview The MSL is responsible for providing fair, balanced, objective scientific information and education to opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, and internal partners as required by scientific and business needs. The MSL is a recognized scientific and clinical knowledge lead on current and future J&J Innovative Medicine products within the Therapeutic Area alignment. The role requires staying current with scientific and treatment landscape trends, supporting research externally and internally, and operating with integrity and in accordance with credo values.
Responsibilities
Consistently demonstrate strategic territory planning and build strong relationships within the territory.
Develop and maintain a field strategic plan.
Respond promptly to unsolicited scientific inquiries from HCPs, investigators, health systems, and decision makers, integrating scientific data (including real-world evidence) into practice to meet customer needs.
Present data and information in a manner appropriate to the audience and request.
Execute plans for reactive and proactive outreach as approved through legal/HCC processes.
Integrate scientific data into real-life practice, adapting communication style to different situations and people.
Anticipate responses from various individuals and teams based on their perspectives.
Prioritize franchise customer initiatives and field responsibilities while balancing administrative duties and projects.
Executes Research Initiatives
Leverage standards of care and Janssen/investigator-sponsored trials and competitive landscape to facilitate external-internal research communication.
Engage with external investigators regarding unsolicited inquiries and act as liaison to R&D, Medical Affairs, and operations teams.
Provide clinical trial support to identify potential sites, resolve issues, and participate in meetings (site initiation, investigator meetings).
Role includes leading at least one scientific or strategic Immunology project, identifying educational gaps, and elevating team knowledge. The MSL should demonstrate strong scientific acumen, engage in ongoing learning, and represent J&J at scientific meetings and stakeholder events as appropriate.
Continuous Support of Department Operations and Internal Partners
Perform all administrative requirements timely and compliantly (e.g., expense reports, activity documentation).
Maintain focus and composure in uncertain circumstances with minimal direction.
Provide regional and local support to enhance sales training initiatives in partnership with Sales Learning and Development.
Communicate and collaborate with field-based partners and other Immunology MSL teams regularly.
Partner with others to lead or participate in large-scale projects.
Maintain understanding of regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines and Medical Affairs SOPs.
Qualifications
Required: A PharmD, PhD, or MD with 1–2 years of relevant hematology, immunology, or auto/alloimmune clinical or research experience.
1–2 years MSL experience preferred in rare diseases.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and general computer/remote technologies.
Ability to travel up to 70%.
Preferred
Launch experience in rare disease is highly preferred.
Significant experience giving presentations is highly preferred.
