Overview
Alterations Specialists are responsible for completing all fittings and alterations to the high standards of David’s Bridal and report to the Store Manager. They exemplify friendly, knowledgeable, and technical expertise and provide superior customer service. This is a seasonal role during peak season.
Responsibilities
- Welcome all customers with genuine, friendly enthusiasm over the phone, virtual chats, and in person; communicate clearly and concisely, adapt style to suit customers, problem solve, use excellent phone skills, and resolve conflicts.
- Use all systems to manage customer flow to deliver a five-star customer experience.
- Maintain service levels by being prepared, welcoming, meeting needs, and supporting customers; complete operational tasks and address emotional and practical needs.
- Provide exceptional service to multiple customers at once and contribute to Five-Star Customer Service store-wide.
- Proactively address customer concerns with confidence; know when to escalate and partner with leadership.
- Explain how alterations contribute to the overall dress for events; promote alteration services and personalization options.
- Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting on gown fit and customization.
- Maintain store standards for a flawless shopping experience and comply with Dress Code Policy.
- Greet and escort alterations customers to and from appointments.
- Inspect garments altered/steamed/pressed for pristine condition before delivery.
- Respond promptly to customer questions with product and service information.
- Build long-term relationships with customers to meet and exceed satisfaction and loyalty.
- Assist with inventory management, special orders, and ensuring quality standards for merchandise.
- Ensure alteration pricing complies with company standards.
- Manage alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning to company standards.
- Resolve customer service issues per company guidelines and support cash wrap processes.
- Keep alterations room clean and organized.
- Perform duties as assigned by store management.
Physical Demands
- Stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; reach for tools; climb stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; bend, twist and move throughout the store.
- Manual dexterity for POS operations, sewing, fittings, and operating devices; ability to lift up to 10 pounds; visual requirements for reading and using computers and phones.
Education & Credentials
- High school diploma or equivalent degree.
- 1-2 years of retail experience in apparel or a specialty store environment.
- Prior sewing experience; bridal or special occasion production experience preferred.
- Experience with a computerized POS system is a plus.
