Overview

Occupational Therapist – SMH Rehab Services. Full Time. Location: San Francisco, CA (St. Mary’s Campus). This is an inpatient position within Saint Francis/St Mary’s hospitals Rehabilitation Services department. The Entry Level Occupational Therapist (OT 1) reports to the Clinical Supervisor and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The Entry Level Occupational Therapist works primarily with adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. The Entry Level Occupational Therapist with specific pediatric competencies and clinical experience may also work with infants, children and/or adolescents. Under general direction and upon receipt of licensed approved provider written referrals, the Entry Level Occupational Therapist plans and administers a full range of occupational therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and functional limitations. Services include patient evaluations using various physical, cognitive, visual/perceptual, psychosocial, and developmental tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing occupational therapy techniques. The Entry Level Occupational Therapist demonstrates practice competence with patients with more straightforward clinical presentations. The Entry Level Occupational Therapist may require mentoring or supervision when working in high acuity care settings (e.g., ICU) and/or with patients with more complex clinical presentations. The Entry Level Occupational Therapist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services. The Entry Level Occupational Therapist may supervise support personnel including Rehabilitation Aides. The Entry Level Occupational Therapist seeks opportunities for ongoing clinical education and professional development and participates in compliance, quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives in the department, local care setting, and organization. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Salary placement within the range is dependent on work experience and internal equity within this position classification. For positions represented by a labor union, placement will be guided by the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $53.20 - $71.79 (Hourly Rate). Responsibilities

Provide occupational therapy services to adult and geriatric inpatients, and potentially pediatric patients as qualified.

Conduct evaluations, set therapeutic goals, develop and implement OT treatment plans, and document care in patient records.

Collaborate with the clinical care team and supervise Rehabilitation Aides as appropriate.

Engage in continuing clinical education, quality and safety initiatives, and process improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

MS or MA degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.

Less than one year of licensed clinical practice experience.

Minimum one full-time fieldwork education experience in an acute care hospital or acute rehabilitation setting.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Ability to recognize signs of distress.

Basic computer skills including work within the Epic electronic medical record.

Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills.

This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.

Prior experience providing patient care in acute care hospital and acute rehab/IRF patient care setting.

Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team.

License/Certification

Possession of or proven eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapy Board of California.

Possession of or proven eligibility for AHA BLS certification.
