RTF0156901-01139667 The Port’s Engineering Division is recruiting for two (2) 5504 Project Manager II positions. The Port of San Francisco is an enterprise agency of the City and County of San Francisco and is governed by a Commission of five members appointed by the Mayor. The Port Commission oversees waterfront facilities held in public trust. The Port’s jurisdiction covers approximately 7.5 miles of waterfront land from Pier 98 to Fisherman’s Wharf. The Port’s diverse business includes leases, cargo handling, ferry and cruise operations, tourism, and related services. The Port of San Francisco has landmarks such as Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, the Exploratorium, the Ferry Building and Oracle Park. The Port is home to various tenants and uses and has led a transformation maintaining maritime heritage while developing new uses. Engineering Division The Engineering Division provides project and construction management, engineering design, facility inspection, contracting, code compliance review and permitting services for the Port’s facilities. The Division coordinates with other City departments to ensure a smooth transition between City and Port jurisdiction. The Port is undertaking complex marine-related and infrastructure projects, requiring additional staff through all phases of project delivery. The Project Manager II will execute projects in the Port’s backlog. Job Description This position will be responsible for overseeing scope, budget, and schedule for construction project design and advertising for construction contracts, typically totaling $20 - $100 Million in value. The Project Manager’s duties include: Managing multiple projects concurrently with different clients, funding sources, schedule drivers, and scopes of work. Managing Port projects from planning through construction or implementation. Establishing project structure, goals, and objectives. Defining roles and responsibilities, identifying project stakeholders, ensuring accountability, and managing scope and changes. Building and monitoring project schedules and budgets. Identifying risks and monitoring project progress for successful delivery. Examples of projects The following projects will be distributed between the two PM II positions: Mission Bay Ferry Landing Phases 2A and 2B Amador Street Pump Station and Roadway Restoration Pier 40 South Beach Marina Repairs/Hyde Street Harbor Repairs Pier 80 Electrification Pier 80 Subsidence Pier 29.5 Office Rehab and Parking Exhaust System Pier 96 Seismic Improvements Pier 96 Wind Power Preparation Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree in architecture, engineering or planning plus six (6) years of responsible architectural, engineering or construction management experience, or Bachelor\'s degree in another field plus eight (8) years of responsible experience in a field directly related to the project, or Ten (10) years of relevant experience in architecture, engineering, or construction management, or California registration as professional engineer or architect, plus two (2) years of project coordination experience. License Possession of a valid California driver’s license (to be presented at time of appointment). Insurability must be maintained throughout employment. Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted. One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours. Any overtime hours beyond 40 hours per week are not included in this calculation. Desirable Qualifications (Ideal Candidate) The ideal candidate will have: Experience managing maritime/waterfront engineering and construction projects (minimum two). Experience managing a minimum of two grant-funded projects. Project management experience on historic or marine structure engineering projects, public realm civil engineering projects, and utility upgrade projects in the San Francisco Bay Area. Experience establishing project parameters, scope, budget, and schedule, and monitoring during execution. Experience managing contracts with consultants. Experience working with environmental permitting agencies in or near the San Francisco Bay. Knowledge of Net Zero Carbon Design or LEED. Proven track record in development and implementation of project tracking and scheduling with stakeholder prioritization.
